Jessica Rice has been a passionate artist all her life. Almost entirely self taught, she began exhibiting her studio work in 2010 and creating murals in 2012. Inspired by Pop Surrealist painters of the last two decades, Jessica's paintings are strange narrations, each telling a tale set in some bizarre dreamscape. Fauna-spewing femmes and other comically unlucky characters abound, her stories exist heavy with the sympathy her creations inspire in the observer. A disarming lack of cynicism, however, grounds the work and tells of an honest, decidedly peculiar, perspective. She works from her home studio in Houston, Texas where she shares the importance of expression through the arts as a former teacher and mother of three. Her work is owned in private collections, and her murals can be found across the city of Houston, in private residencies, and inside businesses.
